Understanding TELUS Connection Fees

At SmartCell Communications, we want to ensure that our customers are fully informed about any fees associated with their TELUS services. One of the charges you may encounter is the Connection Fee. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what you need to know:

What is the Connection Fee?

TELUS charges a one-time $80 Connection Fee for mobility activation and renewal transactions. This includes services for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) as well as hardware transactions. Additionally, there is a one-time $15 Connection Fee for connected devices, such as smartwatches, iPads, and tablets.

How is the Fee Applied?

This fee is not charged by SmartCell; instead, it will automatically appear on your next monthly TELUS invoice. It’s important to note that this fee is non-refundable.

Promotions and Waivers

Occasionally, TELUS runs special promotions for certain organizations or during holiday seasons that may waive or credit this fee for eligible customers. However, please be aware that SmartCell Communications does not have control over these promotions or the fee itself.

Understanding Your Invoice

When you review your TELUS Service Agreement or contract, you’ll find the connection fee listed on page 1 under the “Your Add Ons” section, right beneath the monthly charge for your rate plan. It’s crucial to understand that while page 1 summarizes the total monthly charges, the connection fee is not a monthly recurring charge. This is because some add-ons, like visual voicemail or device protection plans, may be recurring monthly charges, while the connection fee is a one-time charge.

To clarify, page 2 of the TELUS Service Agreement provides a more detailed breakdown of your add-ons and charges, explicitly stating that the connection fee is a one-time charge.
